It’s raining from last 2 days.
(From my window, I am seeing the common sparrow bathing in the rain. She is not common anymore. In my childhood days, she could be seen in plenty. But now I rarely find a group of them. )
We are going to have normal monsoons this year. Everyone is happy with normal rains, right from the farmer who produces, to the common man who consumes and to the government who could have a headacheless year. It’s amazing that our economy still so much dependent on monsoon. A normal monsoons means prosperity to the whole country and lack of it dented govt. revenue, stock markets, Banks, daily living cost of a common man and etc. etc.
One wonders that how our ancestors would have noted the regularity of this natural phenomena and started ploughing their fields in tune with the same. It resulted in providing food grains to the entire civilisation of that time year after year and we are still living on it.
At times one thinks that probably man of ancient times was more innovative. He might not had equipment & technology as we have today, but he was more aware of his surroundings and utilized both boon and bane of nature to its advantage.
He would be a real maverick, who was not fearful of exploring new things. He might not had afraid to loose his possession in quest to improve further.
Of course we have further continued the progress by evolving in science & technology. But who are working on this in modern times, who is bringing in innovation; A handful of scientist or researchers. Who have science as subject and who have read the pre-decided principals and fundamentals written in their academic books. They are leading the world to further growth and development.
And does the other i.e. we, billions of people in this world are doing. Existing on what our ancestors have done like farming synchronized with monsoons or entertaining our self on technology developed by scientists.
We, the common man is not evolving, we have forgotten the art of observing our surroundings, our environment, our nature and its phenomena’s.
Do you think that ancient mankind could have evolved if only handful of them would have thought about new things? It takes a civilization to think alike and have an open mind to try new things in order to evolve in such hard times.
Presently we are not reading or perhaps turn a deaf ear to what our environment is telling us. Our delicate arena is under threat and our nature is gradually changing its course. We need to mend our ways of living, if we want to continue to exist and develop further. We need to be open for new ideas, we must try to do things differently lest we might not survive the reboot mechanism of nature. It is difficult to undo the damage already done to the nature but we must not continue doing the same.
And who says we need some scientist to tell us this, it is happening all around us, we are experiencing this day and night. And yes only we, the billions of common man, can bring the change and save our civilization.
Let us pledge to save the environment by making our small contributions.
Let the sparrow chirp again, let it be common once again.
Well, yet another rational view around us. Thanks for sharing. I had been a regular visitor to Keoladev National park but have noticed that we go there for picnic, and not for sheer pleasure of viewing the nature. Nature has taken its turn and have evolved wherein it is proven that the Bird sanctuary is struggling to receive migrating birds due to various reasons including the human cruelty. We must rise or never get to show even the common sparrows to our offsprings. Anuradha
